PERSONAL INFORMATION
After a seven year absence from chuckwagon racing, 2004 will be Kirk’s first appearance on the WPCA Dodge Pro Tour since 1995. He was a finalist for the Calgary Stampede GMC Rangeland Derby’s sudden death championship final heat in 1987, when along with his brother Kelly, became the first and only brother combination to qualify for the sudden death Calgary Stampede GMC Rangeland Derby Championship final heat the same year. Prior to his leave of absence in 1995, Kirk was a member of the WPCA and between 1976 and 1992, he captured 4 show championships at the Battle Of The North, the North American Chuckwagon Championship, the Handhills Stampede, and the Kamloops Rangeland Derby.
He resumed his chuckwagon career on a part time basis in 2002 with the CPCA. 2003 was Kirk’s first full year back with the CPCA and while driving two outfits, posted 17 top ten runs including 1 first place run and 6 other runs that cracked the top five. He placed in the top ten overall in 6 of 11 shows, with three fifth place overall finishes at the Colonial Days Fair, Saskatoon Exhibition Derby, and the Lloydminster CPCA Finals being his best of the year. 2004 will see Kirk rejoin the WPCA Dodge Pro Tour. Kirk and his wife Kathy have four children - Mitch, Traci, Misty, and Ashley.
